Cat and Moon Carousel Tealight Candle

My journey towards finding The Cat and Moon carousel tealight holder, started some 10 years ago. I had been looking for something similar to a candle holder, seen in the movie Sleepy Hollow. However due to a lack of knowledge on the terminology for such a thing, I strugggled and almost gave up my search. Thankfully a couple of weeks ago, on my search to track down a completely different product, I found the Cat and Moon carousel tealight holder. While this is lacking in some respects for what I was looking for (similar to the movie), it is a very attention catching, eye pleasing cool object. The only downsides to this product are, it is very thin and delicate. It isn’t likely to break, but I’m aware bending it out of shape is a real possibility. The product ideally needs to be close to a wall or in a small room, in order to really see the detail of the shadows. In my personal opinion I believe the shadow would be more effective if it had more solid walls to it, allowing less light through, to make the light/shadow definition greater, in order to see the beautiful finer detail from the castings. The only other things to note are, if you, like myself, prefer to burn the 9 hr tealight candles, you will struggle to fit them into this holder. The post which attaches to the base (which allows the carousel to spin on), bends over the candle and in doing so the bend does not clear the 9hr candles height. I have been successful to put a dent into the 9hr tealight candle, to allow the use of it in this holder. Also note the top of the carousel gets very hot very quickly, so position it correctly onto the stick after lighting, as with in seconds it’s too hot to touch to readjust. This product is beautiful to watch, I have shown it to some friends, all of whom have fallen in love with it. I am also planning on buying several more!

Hi Dallas, Thanks for your message. It’s quite possible that the high temperatures have caused the crystals to dissolve — the optimal range for crystal formation is between 5°C and 30°C, so anything above that (especially in the mid-40s) can definitely affect it. The good news is that the storm glass likely isn’t damaged. Once it returns to a cooler, stable environment, the crystals should gradually reform. I'd suggest moving it to a spot inside that’s away from direct sunlight, heating/cooling vents, or outside walls — somewhere with minimal temperature fluctuations. Give it a few days to settle, and you should start to see crystals forming again. Let me know how it goes! Best regards, Peter

Hey guys and girls at 'cool things'! I bought the crystal set kit, partly as I wanted to 'test run' my new Visa card with a localised purchase. Also partly to see what's available in this line from a retail operation nowadays. When I was a kid back in the 1960's everyone had one, and everyone built one from scrounged parts. Parts are harder to get now, so a kit is the ideal way to go. Glad to say that things ran smoothly all round, and the package showed up in the mail, intact, and more or less when I expected it. This kit uses springs as connection points, and this can be good from a 'quick assembly' point of view. Some kits are screw together models, and this means that the customer needs to own a basic set of screwdrivers and a pair of wire cutters. That's not a bad thing if you're intending to take up the hobby, but a waste of money if you're not. I believe that this kit is really a start up kind of kit and that people who want their kids or grandkids to experiment with basic electronics couldn't go past this in terms of ease of assembly, and value for dollar at the asking price. My 3 year old daughter would never eat her sandwiches with the crusts on & it was impossible to get her to eat more than just a bite out of each quarter of her sandwiches. Now she gets excited at lunch time & has a great variety of shapes to punch into the bread. She has so much fun pressing the shapes herself & then showing everyone the results. No more wasted sandwiches, she eats the whole thing! Great product. I intend buying more of these as gifts in the future.

We have both a Cat and a Dog (who are around the same size/weight), and we have found it takes better photos from the Dog's collar as it sits nice and neatly and securely on the wider, flat collar types. The Cat's collar being a bit smaller and more stretchy, the camera seemed to dangle and did not sit as snugly as when the dog was wearing it. The photos they each took came out quite good, obviously when they were on the move we got blurry shots, or when they were sleeping they were black photos as they were lying on the camera, but the rest gave us a good laugh and a fair idea of what they were doing when we were not around! A word of advice - don't put the camera on them before they eat their food - it will end up in the food bowl & also their water bowl! We had to dry it out once but thank god it still worked! The camera is easy to use as the instructions were thorough. It is a very cool toy and something all cat & dog owners should try!

I just bought this heli and it's pretty cool! I have been looking at heli's for a while and this is the best for the money if your a beginner. The wait to charge is 1 hour and so far is the only draw back. After I set the trim it was pretty easy to fly. I think all said it is good value.

Z-Curve Bow

I bought the Z-Curve bow for my nephew's 12th birthday. I don't know who had more fun playing with it! We both loved it and whenever one of us put it down for a moment, the other would pick it up to play more...lol. It was a game to see who could be more accurate. Seriously fun and safe too (no pointed heads). Rubber heads stick fantastically to walls etc. Nothing to assemble; just insert the arrowhead and go for it. My fellow Coolsters, you won't regret this purchase :)

ZAP-a-BUG Insect Terminator

I purchased one of these (exactly as pictured) about 20 years ago. It was great then, and still is. I've since purchased similar electronic swatters, all of which were hopeless. Whether this was due to them being a lower voltage I don't know. But if I see these available again (provided they are same specs as the original) then I'd buy, as I want 2 for our house, and 1 for camping... and maybe a couple for presents.
