Build your very own wooden clock that keeps accurate time with the spring-loaded UGears Sky Watcher Tourbillon Table Clock!

This fascinating mechanical contraption is a combination of a functional table clock, and an imaginative celestial observatory!

Rather than using a standard clock face with hands, your 3D model includes a time display placed on reels, making it a really cool addition to any office space!

Each of the clock reels is directly linked to the imaginative rotating tourbillon that sits atop your clock tower, helping to decrease any slight errors in timekeeping!

In fact, the spherical tourbillon on this clock has even been styled to resemble a large telescope observatory, scanning the celestial sphere!

Your wind-up clock operates based on the accumulation of potential energy in a flat spring, and the metered release of this energy.

When your model is fully wound, it can power the timepiece for approximately 2-3 hours.

It’s the perfect gift for night sky watchers, stargazers, astronomers, or watch and clock enthusiasts!

Definitely anadvanced build (not for the faint of heart)! This is my first Ugears project after doing six of a competitor brand. I find that the instructions weren't as detailed BUT the parts are much more sturdy. Actually thepanels are at least twice as thick. I have it completed but I have a couple of gears jamming and Ihaven't found out whichones they are so it won't operate (annoying) but I will figure it out. One other thing I discovered is that the "lock" is just a hair too long making catch on the drive gear! Try it if you dare and want a challenge! John

I assembled this model about three years ago, and I found it quite interesting from a technical point of view. I was pleased with the assembly process, but the design itself is very capricious and may not work the first time. I also could not set the exact speed of the clock, so I cannot use it for its intended purpose. However, the model is beautiful and it is pleasant to watch it work. I can recommend it.

An excellent puzzle! A challenge to build and impressive to show off. Adequate instructions, easy to follow. Not for beginners though! And extreme care must be taken - this is very intricate puzzle, and demands full attention at all times. (I made one minor mistake: I installed the UGEARS logo backwards on the top part.) They point out that you need to seat the top tourbillon part. However, once it is completed, there is a breaking-in period: The first time it only ran a few seconds, but I kept restarting it and now it runs continuously.

I like a challenge, and this fits the bill! First off, the information provided on the website and on the box indicates that this is not for beginners; be warned! Also, there are parts of the provided instructions that are difficult to understand; high-contrast printing could improve this. (Of course, that can wait until the war is over.) That being said, it is an amazingly clever device, and very well designed! For the times I got stuck (having no idea at the time what a tourbillon is), there are YouTube videos to help. Best advice for those considering this? Be thorough with the sanding and waxing - I recommend not only waxing the parts as indicated, but looking ahead to see if the waxed part touches something; if so, wax that as well. The end result is well worth it! All in all, this was an excellent experience, creating a beautiful, unique clock. I'm still in the adjusting phase, so I'm not sure how long I can get it to run per winding, but that's part of the fun!

Great building experience. Mine ticks away for quite a while until the internal friction of the many wooden pieces becomes too much. This I expected. Critical issues that should have been explained in an addendum (or corrected int the engineering of it) is piece #5. This piece advances the hour mechanism. Unfortunately in mine it seemed to be about 0.5mm to big so it did not "fall" in order to advance the hour. I tried to sand it later, but this is very difficult to do once the whole thing is put together. The other issue was in page 42, pieces 127 to 131 they need to be glued with some superglue because this part is in constant movement, I whish this would be suggested somewhere so we don't have to go back and do it later. It is critical that all rotating pieces be properly sanded and waxed. Otherwise fantastic build.

So far I have completed 19 Ugears kits but put this one off for a while as it seemed from reviews it might be a bit too challenging. I must say it’s the most satisfying so far - a real challenge indeed but a great sense of achievement too! It is currently ticking away quite happily after nearly three and a half hours on one wind. One bit of advice- watch out on page 42 with parts 128 and 129. These fix together with toothpicks but it turned out on assembly that this part is a crucial one in constant movement. After an hour, the tooth picks worked loose and the part fell into the mechanism bringing everything to a halt. It took an hour to persuade it back into place, secured by superglue! All is now well, but take care it is properly secure to avoid my problems, Overall, congratulations Ugears, another brilliant product!

I assembled it for about 8 hours and for another 5 hours I figured out where it rubs and how it works, cleaned the right places, lubricated it and the mechanism worked perfectly. It's just a thrill to watch the mechanism work and listen to the pleasant ticking. You can watch the review on the Incredible Gears channel

Hugely impressed by this kit, it is an amazing feat of design to produce a clock this complicated 99.9 percent out of 3mm plywood (with no glue or screws). The parts are highly accurate and cleverly have tiny slots cut to aid in the assembly and make a firm grip. To get the best from this kit you need to take your time and perhaps finesse the critical parts slightly (e.g. making sure the balance wheel is as frictionless as possible, etc). I loved making it and was delighted to achieve a maximum run time of 3 hours 50 during which the time stayed accurate for the first 3 hours (lost time a little as the maiin spring completely ran down, same as any mechincal clock). Don't be fooled by the fact that the 'tick' is a little faster than one second, it does keep good time!
