The plexiglass enclosed facets, wonderful for viewing and solving clues, with multi-layered plywood construct makes this a sturdy box. The space at the end is cavernous so one could put a nice surprise in there. Not as involved perhaps as others in the series but has a robust feel about it.

It took about 25 minutes to solve, which was the perfect amount of time, not too easy, not frustrating, just really fun and engaging. It turned a simple gift into something interactive and memorable. My niece just turned 25 and loved it so much she immediately asked if she could reuse it. Yes, you can take it apart and put it back together, which makes it even more worth the purchase. I can't imagine it's too difficult as he got it open within a day, so I'd put it at intermediate to beginner difficulty, probably. It's fairly sturdy but it can kinda feel like it's gonna break if you manhandle it a bit. Just be a bit tender with the box and the instruments and it'll be fine. It's easy to play with, and the instructions seemed pretty clear from what I glanced at. Perfect for your first puzzle box I'd say!
