Welcome to the fun side of thermodynamics!

Also known as the light mill, the Crooke’s Radiometer was invented in 1873 by Sir William Crookes as the by-product of some chemical research. His work is still seen in museums and science exhibitions around the world, but now you don’t have to go far to have your own piece of history!

The Crooke’s Radiometer consists of four vanes encased in a near perfect vacuum that will spin whenever it’s exposed to sunlight.

Set it in sun or bright light and watch the black and silver vanes heat up and move around without you touching it!

The radiometer is 13cm high and 8cm wide, and has a four vane rotor that spins continuously up to 3,000 RPM!

Try it out yourself and watch thermodynamics in action!
