Is it real ice cream?
Yes, each official Astronaut Ice Cream pack contains a slice of freeze-dried edible Neapolitan ice cream.

What does it taste like?
Because it's been freeze-dried (all the moisture has been sucked out of it), it is dry, crunchy and almost has the same texture as the inside of a Malteaser. However, once you place it in your mouth and it starts to dissolve, the ice cream flavour really comes out.

Ingredients:
milk fat, corn syrup, non-fat milk, strawberry puree, whey, cocoa, stabilised and emulsified by mono diglycerides, guar gum, cellulose gum and carageenan, artificial flavour, red #40 and vegetable annatto colour.

This makes a great gift!! I have been giving them instead of chocolates and people really appreciate the uniqueness - but buy one to try for yourself as well, they really are a delicious eating experience (there is something surreal about dry, chunky ice cream)

I have great memories of eating delicious space food as a child at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC, and have never been able to find astronaut ice-cream since. That is, until I came across Coolthings!

I was so happy to find them, I immediately ordered three. My partner has now developed a taste for astronaut food also, so it's probably time to order more...

This stuff is really great, an almost sensual experience for both your taste buds and tongue. It legitimately gets a creamy texture after it comes in contact with your saliva. The different flavours are very easy to pick as well. Only thing is the serving size is tiny, so if I were you I'd buy two.
